Description:
1st day: Chamonix – Argentière hut. Elevation gain : 200 m - Descent : 3000 m.
Meeting point : At 09 :00 AM in Chamonix for a briefing and to check the equipment. After 2 nice descent of the Aiguille des Grands Montets, we will practice some avalanche awarness. Then we will go down the Argentiere glacier towards the Argentière hut (2771 m) . Where we will spend the night.

2nd day: Argentière hut – Mont-Fort hut. Elevation gain : 1200 m - Descent: 2400m.
We start touring up to the Col du Chardonnet (3325m), before we ski down to the Saleina glacier. From there we skin up to the Fenêtre de Saleina, then descend underneath the Aiguilles Dorées. After crossing the Trient glacier, we pass through the Fenêtre de Chamois (2985m), from where we start skiing down to the Val d’Arpette. The descent ends 1300m further down in Champex. A quick transfer by bus brings us to Le Chable, from where we take the cable car up to Mont Fort. A quick descent we are at the Mont-fort hut.

3rd day: Mont-Fort hut – Prafleuri hut. Elevation gain : 1000m - Descent: 800 m.
Mont-Fort 2457m hut to la Chaux pass 2940m, a quick descent then Momin pass . Then we can ski tour up to the summit of Rosablanche (3336 m). From there, we have a beautiful ski descent down to the Prafleuri hut.

4th day : Cabane de Prafleuri - Cabane des Dix. Elevation gain : 700 m - Descent: 400 m.
Today we ski tour up and along Lac des Dix. The terrain is quite flat, and a good sliding technique helps to preserve energy reserves needed for later. The final Pas de Chat leading to the Cabane des Dix is right in front of your eyes.

5th day : Cabane des Dix - Cabane des Vignettes. Elevation gain : 950 m Descent: 640 m.
We start with one of the highlights of this Haute Route: The ascent of the famous Pigne d’Arolla (3730 m ) via the Mur de la Serpentine, followed by a beautiful descend leading us to the Cabane des Vignettes (3160m), which is perched on the mountain like an eagle’s nest.

6th day : Cabane des Vignettes - Zermatt. Elevation gain : 1 300 m Descent : 3120 m
An early morning start sees us skiing down to the Otemma glacier. We traverse the 3 passes l’Evêque, Mont Brûlé and Valpelline pass. The route offers a spectacular panorama of the Swiss’ most famous peaks: Dent Blanche, the Dent d’Hérens, and, of course, the famous Matterhorn. We ski tour up to the Valpeline pass, which allows for amazing views of the Zermatt valley. An impressive descent down the Stocki glacier brings us to the final destination of our adventure. From there, a bus ride will bring us back to Chamonix and to reality, filled with the memory of this beautiful high alpine world, left behind. This the end of the Chamonix Zermatt Ski Touring Haute Route !
